Season Recap
The 2019 Malvern Bank SLMR Series season has drawn to a close and this season was the biggest and arguably the best one yet. Throughout the course of the 23-race night, 133 different drivers made an appearance with the Series as we traveled throughout Nebraska and Iowa.

After making our way to 13 different tracks and completing 19 points shows the driver sitting high atop the point standings is Marquette, Nebraska’s Kyle Berck that will be crowned your 2019 Malvern Bank SLMR Series champion. This is Berck’s 2nd straight Series title and his Series’ record seventh of his career. Berck added 5 more wins to his name this season pushing his career total with the Series to 88, another Series record.
For the second straight season, Ben Schaller will finish 2nd in the points and Bill Leighton Jr will finish 3rd in the points after strong and consistent seasons. Corey Zeitner’s 5th place run in the season finale helps him edge past Josh Leonard for 4th in the standings. Josh Leonard in his first year piloting the Rick Hunnicutt owned #1 machine will round out the top 5 in the standings. Jason O’Brien ends the year 6th in the series standings, Andrew Kosiski moves past Brian Kosiski after the last race to claim 7th in the standings, Tad Pospisil in 9th, and Brad Perdue claims 10th.
Your 2019 Bill Wrich Memorial Rookie of the Year presented by Storm Solution Specialists award will go home to Gibbon, Nebraska’s Josh Leonard. Leonard closes out 2019 with a 5th place result in the standings, 1 win that came at the Shelby County Speedway, 5 top 5’s, 13 top 10’s in the 19 races.
The 2019 was one of the most competitive in Series history. A season that saw 12 different winners including 5 first time winners those being Nick Deal, Tyler Bruening, Josh Leonard, Jeff Aikey, and Jason Rauen; the other 7 race winners were Kyle Berck, Bill Leighton Jr, Corey Zeitner, Jason O’Brien, Andrew Kosiski, Tad Pospisil, and Justin Kay. During the course of the season, 27 different drivers recorded a top 5 finish and 47 drivers scored at least 1 top 10 finish.
11 drivers finished 2019 with perfect attendance: Kyle Berck, Ben Schaller, Bill Leighton Jr, Corey Zeitner, Josh Leonard, Jason O’Brien, Andrew Kosiski, Brian Kosiski, Brad Perdue, Curt Schroeder, and Paul Conrad. 2 drivers missed just one race: Zach Zeitner and Jason Wallace.
