Berck Rolls To Another Win
The next stop on the 2019 Malvern Bank SLMR Series tour directed the Series’ attention to the third-mile known as the Eagle Raceway. 30 cars were in attendance for the $2,000 to-win event.
Andrew Kosiski and Ben Schaller got the night under way when they posted the fastest times in their groups during qualifying, Schaller being the quickest overall laying down a lap of 14.122 around the third-mile. Kosiski would then find himself picking up the heat race win, other heat race winners included Corey Zeitner, Josh Leonard, and Jake Neal. The B-Features were won by a pair of third-generation drivers, Kale Kosiski and Zach Zeitner.
Kyle Berck and Jason O’Brien led the field to the green for the 25-lap main event. Kyle Berck got the jump and assumed the top spot while the field battled for positions behind him. Brian and Andrew Kosiski battled hard for the 3rd spot throughout the opening laps of the race. Brian Kosiski would retain the third spot. Andrew would soon be run down by Josh Leonard, Jake Neal, Tad Pospisil, and Corey Zeitner who were also caught in a fierce battle. Those 5 drivers would trade position and battle throughout the remainder of the race. Meanwhile, Kyle Berck was having no problem with lap traffic as he continued to stretch out his lead over Atlantic, Iowa’s, Jason O’Brien. Back at the battle for fourth Corey Zeitner, who started 9th, had wheeled his way to the front of the battle and now rode in the fourth spot as the laps continued to wind down. Andrew Kosiski faded late after surrendering spots the Pospisil, Neal, and Leonard.
The A-Feature went green to checkered without any yellows and at the conclusion of the 25-laps it was the Marquette Missile, Kyle Berck winning by a straightaway and scoring his 5th MBSLMR victory of the season and 88th of his career; Jason O’Brien followed him to the line in 2nd, Brian Kosiski 3rd, Corey Zeitner was 4th, and Jake Neal brought the Glenn Robey owned 8-Ball machine home in the 5th spot.
